An alcoholic never drinks alone.
'Borrow' means you know someone really well, and you've borrowed from each other before without asking.
Otherwise it is theft and a real insult.
Borrowing crimes are food > alcohol > drugs > your room > your computer. > your boyfriend/girlfriend.
- the list runs from most common to least common, and from least dire consequences to actual bodily harm.
Who buys the toilet roll ?
Its not expensive. Just do it. If it’s becoming a problem just do it. Do it once more. Then do it once more (third strike). This time don’t do it, keep it in your room. If it still doesn’t happen then it’s time to strike: you’ve got a full arsenal and unquestionable moral high ground, so go for it with both barrels. If the response ‘is like its SUCH a COMPLETELY trivial issue’, then its definitely time to move, because you are living with people who expect you to be their parents. A good test on this one is to say exactly this: I’m not your parents. Blank glances mean you’re moving soon.”
This flatfinding website has a whole section of funny, well written, snarky articles about flat sharing. I want to live with whoever wrote them.
I also want more people to advertise their properties on there, too. They seem like good people and I love the way the site works, I just wish they had more content. Kthnx.
Being a dude, and very close to gamers and the games industry can be really damaging at times. It would be multiple times worse if I was a woman.
It’s a very male dominated industry, which itself is sad as it leads to less diverse games, but it also allows for a culture where people do not get called on their prejudices. The scariest part for me personally is that I’ve been in this kind of environment for a long time. All boys school, engineering at university, games industry. These are not the places you find people with well balanced opinions on women. I really feel that if it wasn’t for good quality friends (outside these circles), decent roll models and being called on bad (proto) opinions I could have ended up like these entitled idiots on the internet.
These days I feel seriously obligated to call people on their shit and try and make the industry a better place for women and for everyone. I hope that I can have some positive influence, and I hope I can help with younger gamers turning out like these people.
Engineers and video game nerds are pretty much the worst people.”
My friend Tim on facebook responding to an article I shared about the harassment Anita Sarkeesian from Feminist Frequency is receiving from sections of the online gamer community in response to the success of her Kickstarter project ‘Tropes vs Women in Video Games’
Moar open/public analysis of equality in all the tech/geek/nerd cultures pleez. Many of us have been waiting a long time be able to join in all the fun without having to deal with all the bullshit.
